Sisal carpets are made from leaves of agave sisal growing in Africa and Brazil and in the Third World countries. This plant produces very hard and strong fibres. Sisal fiber is very resistant to abrasion. It is one of the most popular fiber plants (after cotton and jute). The disadvantage of sisal carpets is their roughness and hardness.
